The Korea Forest Service announced on the 22nd that it will hold an Open Innovation Project Contest from July 28 to August 22.
The project aims to develop innovative new products and idea-based goods by utilizing public data in the forestry sector and artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
The objective of the project is to create new business models by combining the demand and technology of large corporations with the creative ideas and technologies of startups, all based on public data owned by the Korea Forest Service.
Companies participating in the project will develop original products or services using forestry public data in collaborative areas proposed by large corporations, such as eco-friendly customer experience solutions linked to the leisure industry, wildfire detection and early response prediction solutions, and smart tree management solutions for apartment complexes.
Through this project, large corporations will have opportunities to strengthen their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) management activities and create social value. In addition, startups are expected to have the opportunity to expand their businesses and lay the groundwork for sustainable growth by acquiring the know-how possessed by large corporations.
Lee Jongsu, Director of Planning and Coordination at the Korea Forest Service, said, "We will contribute to revitalizing the business ecosystem by discovering achievements in private-sector AI development and new business models in the forestry sector," adding, "We hope for the active interest and participation of startups with innovative ideas."
