How Does Dongmyung University Conduct Early Admissions?... 98.5% of Quota Selected

Dongmyung University will recruit 1,402 students, which is 98.5% of its regular admission quota for the 2026 academic year, through the early admission process. The application period is from September 8 to September 12, 2025.

Dongmyung University offers several student record-based admissions tracks: the Interview Track, the General High School Track, the Specialized High School Track, the Sports Excellence Track, the Lifelong Learner Track I, and the Lifelong Learner Track II.

For the comprehensive student record-based admissions, there are the Creative Talent Track and the Software Talent Track. Only eight subjects are reflected in the academic evaluation, which reduces the burden of internal grade reflection, and the university's internal grade calculation is higher compared to overall grades, encouraging students to apply with confidence. Multiple applications across different tracks are allowed. Except for the Department of Nursing, the university does not apply minimum CSAT (College Scholastic Ability Test) requirements for any other department, according to the university.

The method for reflecting academic grades from the school record is the same for all tracks: the top eight subjects (including career elective subjects) are considered from Korean, English, Mathematics, Social Studies (including Korean History), and Science. Among Korean, English, and Mathematics, three subjects are mandatory. There is no distinction by grade or semester, and up to two career elective subjects can be reflected (with achievement levels A = grade 1, B = grade 3, C = grade 5). Even if the same subject is taken in different semesters, it is included.

For the Interview Track, 80% of the evaluation is based on student records and 20% on the interview, allowing students who are less confident in their grades to compensate through the interview. The interview will be conducted non-face-to-face, using a video recording and upload method. Interview questions will be published in advance on the university website (for the Department of Nursing, on the day of the exam), so there is no need to feel burdened by the interview. On the day of the exam, applicants will upload video responses to 2-3 questions announced that day, and admissions officers will evaluate the videos focusing on personality, values, and communication skills.

For the Sports Rehabilitation Department's practical skills track, 40% is based on student records and 60% on practical skills. The practical test includes three events: medicine ball throw, standing long jump, and zigzag run, to assess physical fitness. The Department of Visual Design and the Webtoon Animation Department are evaluated 100% on practical skills. For the Department of Visual Design, applicants choose one out of three subjects: Transformation of Ideas, Conception and Expression, or Basic Design. For the Webtoon Animation Department, applicants choose one out of three subjects: Comic Strip, Situation Expression, or Basic Design. On the day of the exam, one topic is drawn from several provided for each subject. The submitted work is evaluated based on the ability to express design or creativity through colored drawings.

The Creative Talent Track and Software Talent Track, which are comprehensive student record-based admissions, are evaluated by admissions officers (professors and full-time officers) who comprehensively review the school record (100% documents - including both academic and non-academic activities) from the applicant's three years of high school, focusing on activities related to the intended major. Both academic and non-academic areas are evaluated comprehensively, but academic grades are not quantitatively scored.

The university recommends that students who show interest and passion for their intended major, based on their school record (including academic achievement, attitude, efforts in major-related courses, collaboration, and communication skills), should consider applying even if their academic grades are slightly lacking.

Kim Jaeseok, Director of Admissions and Public Relations at Dongmyung University, stated, "It is most important for applicants to thoroughly understand their own strengths. If you focused on academic subjects (internal grades) during high school, it is advantageous to apply through the academic subject track or the interview track."

Kim also emphasized, "If you focused on non-academic activities related to your career path, the Creative Talent Track and Software Talent Track, which are comprehensive student record-based admissions, are suitable. In addition, checking if there are any special tracks such as the Specialized High School Track or Rural Track that fit your profile can increase your chances of admission."
