Wando County Office Weightlifting Team Sweeps Nine Gold Medals at National Competition

All Three Athletes Win Triple Crowns
Men's and Women's General Divisions Dominated

The Wando County Office weightlifting team from South Jeolla Province has once again proven its status as a powerhouse in business weightlifting, sweeping nine gold medals at a national competition.


On July 22, Wando County announced that three male and female athletes in the general division each became triple gold medalists at the 2024 Korea Business Weightlifting Federation President's Cup National Weightlifting Competition, held recently at Beolgyo Sports Center in Boseong, South Jeolla Province, securing a total of nine gold medals.

In the men's general 61kg category, Kim Dongmin took first place in the snatch, first in the clean and jerk, and first overall with a total of 277kg, earning three gold medals. In the same division's 89kg category, Kang Minwoo also claimed first place in both the snatch and the clean and jerk, and finished first overall with a total of 363kg, becoming a triple gold medalist as well.


In the women's general +89kg category, Lim Jeonghee took first place in the snatch, the clean and jerk, and overall, recording a total of 266kg and achieving triple gold. At this competition, all Wando County Office athletes demonstrated flawless performance across three weight classes, producing three triple gold medalists?a remarkable achievement.


Seo Hocheol, head coach of the Wando County Office weightlifting team, said, "All of our athletes showed exceptional training attitudes," adding, "Their strong determination ahead of the competition led to these great results."


Meanwhile, on June 25, Wando County revised relevant ordinances to raise annual salaries based on athletes' performance and introduced a performance-based bonus system, actively supporting the business team to boost morale and create stable training conditions.
