Guidance on Preventing Fires and Accidents at Recycling Companies
Sharing Policies to Prevent Illegal Waste Disposal
On July 21, the Busanjin-Hae Economic Free Zone Authority (headed by Park Seongho) held a meeting to strengthen waste safety management for comprehensive recycling companies located in the Machun Industrial Complex, aiming to prevent fire accidents during the summer vacation season.
This meeting was organized to proactively prevent accidents in the waste recycling process, which is particularly prone to fire risks due to high-temperature treatment, heated aluminum dust, and foundry sand, and to ensure the safety of waste recycling within the industrial complex.
Participants reviewed compliance items such as safety management standards, fire prevention facilities and equipment, installation of CCTV, preparation and familiarization with accident response manuals, separate storage of waste, and management of firefighting equipment. They also discussed on-site information transmission device inspections to prevent illegal waste disposal, verification of suitability for waste processing businesses, inspections of suspicious companies, and ways to respond to public complaints.
Park Seongho, the head of the authority, emphasized, "We will strengthen on-site inspections so that sudden accidents do not occur even in the absence of managers," and added, "We will make every effort to prevent not only environmental accidents but also various safety incidents such as fires."
