Sacheon City, which is emerging as the nation's top marine tourism destination, has been recognized for its outstanding tourism appeal and excellent promotional capabilities compared to other local governments.
On July 22, Sacheon City in South Gyeongsang Province announced that it had received the 'Excellence Prize in the Popularity Award' at the 10th Korea International Tourism Expo (KITS 2025), held at KINTEX in Ilsan.
The 10th Korea International Tourism Expo (KITS 2025) is the largest tourism expo in the country, with more than 300 domestic and international institutions and companies participating.
This award was determined based on a survey of general visitors to the expo and the results of an SNS vote. It is especially meaningful as it highlights the widespread appeal and promotional strength of Sacheon's tourism content compared to other local governments.
Sacheon City received an enthusiastic response from visitors by showcasing its beautiful natural scenery, marine tourism resources, and unique content as a hub of aerospace.
In particular, the city introduced its representative tourism resources?such as Sacheon Sea Cable Car, Sacheon Air Show, and Aerospace Museum?through visual content and hands-on programs, drawing significant interest from family visitors and tourism professionals.
In addition, through strategic content operations utilizing on-site SNS events and local experience elements, the city achieved high visitor participation, demonstrating both popularity and buzz.
Mayor Park Dongsik said, "This award is thanks to everyone who loves domestic travel and Sacheon," adding, "We will continue to develop differentiated tourism content unique to Sacheon and strive to become a smart tourism city that offers both experiences and inspiration."
