The South Korean national badminton team has continued its winning streak at the Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Tour Japan Open (Super 750). Following women's singles powerhouse An Seyoung, the men's doubles team of Seo Seungjae and Kim Wonho also claimed the top spot.
During the matches, the "red can spray" used by head coach Park Joobong on the athletes drew significant attention. The product contains "Maysin," an ingredient developed by the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute, and is reported to have helped the athletes recover and maintain their condition.
According to the Korea Badminton Association and the health and life startup Pilab on July 21, the national team is actively using the officially sponsored product "LePilab Physical Calm Spray" to help players recover from fatigue and relieve muscle stiffness.
LePilab Physical Calm Spray uses the natural flavonoid "Maysin," developed by the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute, as its main ingredient. Maysin, extracted from centipede grass (Centipede Grass), is known for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. The so-called LePilab "red can" spray also contains "Oriental Herb Bio," a complex of six herbal extracts, which is intended to relax muscles and promote rapid recovery after exercise. This is why Coach Park personally sprayed the shoulders and arms of the athletes during breaks.
The Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute is a government-funded research institution with top-level research capabilities in various fields, including nuclear energy and bio-convergence technology. Maysin was developed using the institute's accumulated technological expertise and reliable research environment, and the ingredient?backed by scientific evidence from a nationally accredited research institution?has been applied to products used by national athletes.
Earlier, on July 7, the Korea Badminton Association signed an official sponsorship agreement with LePilab. As the contract period with KB Financial Group, which had been the main sponsor for nearly ten years, was coming to an end this year, the association sought a new partner and joined hands with Pilab, which agreed to provide a total of 1.8 billion won (1.54 billion won in cash and 260 million won worth of goods) over two years. National team athletes, including "shuttlecock queen" An Seyoung, are being provided with "LePilab Physical Calm Spray" and other "Maysin" healthcare products.
Pilab CEO Lee Sangyoon said, "I am very pleased that the national team has achieved such great results immediately after we began our official sponsorship," adding, "We will continue to listen to those on the ground and provide products and support that offer real help, so that athletes can maintain optimal condition and train and compete stably."
