Donation of 1 Billion KRW to the Community Chest of Korea
GS Retail Delivers Emergency Supplies to Shelters in Gwangju and Other Areas
GS Group has donated funds and provided relief supplies to support recovery efforts following heavy rainfall damage.
On July 22, GS Group announced that it had donated 1 billion KRW to the Community Chest of Korea to aid in the recovery from flood damage caused by recent torrential rains. A GS representative stated, "We hope this will provide some help to residents in the affected areas," and added, "We will do our utmost to support vulnerable groups and assist with disaster recovery."
Emergency support from GS affiliates was also provided. On July 18, GS Retail delivered emergency relief supplies to residents in Gwangju and the counties of Gokseong and Naju in Jeonnam, who were affected by the unprecedented heavy rainfall. Approximately 4,000 relief items, including bottled water and snacks, were delivered to five evacuation centers: Yongbong Elementary School in Gwangju, Jisan Elementary School, Okwa High School in Gokseong, Gokseong Leisure Culture Center, and the village community center in Dasi-myeon, Naju.
GS Retail has been taking the lead in supporting disaster victims and recovery efforts through its nationwide distribution network, and plans to assess the situation to determine whether additional support is needed.
Meanwhile, GS has continued its support activities during disaster situations, including donating 1 billion KRW during the recent wildfire damage.
