The kickoff meeting for the publication of the 30th anniversary history of North Korea projects held on the 21st. World Vision
World Vision, an international relief and development NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) led by President Cho Myunghwan, announced that it held a kickoff meeting for the publication of the "30th Anniversary History of North Korea Projects" on the 21st at the main conference room of World Vision's headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul.
This meeting marks the first step toward systematically organizing the entire process of humanitarian aid projects for North Korea that World Vision has carried out over the past 30 years since 1994, and officially documenting their historical significance and achievements. The "30th Anniversary History of North Korea Projects" is the first case in the history of humanitarian aid to North Korea in South Korea where a single organization has comprehensively summarized 30 years of continuous humanitarian cooperation activities. It is regarded as a record symbolizing both the historical significance of aid to North Korea and the sustainability of civil cooperation.
World Vision stated, "The '30th Anniversary History of North Korea Projects' goes beyond a simple chronological record to comprehensively include project achievements and limitations, on-site case studies and testimonies from stakeholders, and analysis of changes in the policy environment." The organization added, "By combining academic analysis with storytelling, the publication is designed to be easily accessible not only to experts but also to the general public, sponsors, and policy stakeholders. It will also be actively used as empirical data for future improvements in humanitarian aid policies for North Korea." The "30th Anniversary History of North Korea Projects" is scheduled for official publication by the end of 2025.
Cho Myunghwan, President of World Vision, stated, "World Vision's North Korea projects began with a single bag of flour as a site of civil solidarity, and have been a singular path for peace and human rights." He added, "We aim to share our 30 years of experience and expertise, and to contribute to the more effective development of inter-Korean cooperation in the future."
