Exhibitions on Display at Geumnaerae Art Hall Next to the District Office
The Geumcheon District Office in Seoul is providing a special shelter where residents exhausted by the heat can enjoy both culture and relaxation.
On July 22, Geumcheon District (headed by Yoo Seonghun) announced that it has opened the lobby of the district office as a heat relief shelter where residents can comfortably escape the heat, and has also launched the 'Geumnaerae Water Splashing Rest Area,' a water play facility within the office building.

Last year, the district remodeled the first floor interior, creating a gallery hall and a book cafe. The gallery hall is a multi-purpose cultural space where visitors can enjoy both art appreciation and relaxation. In particular, a large media art wall covering the entire first-floor lobby displays vibrant videos of waterfalls and the Siheung Valley. This facility is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. until September.
The office building's water play facility, 'Geumnaerae Water Splashing Rest Area,' is open to infants and elementary school students until August 24, and guardians may accompany them. To ensure a comfortable and safe water play environment for children, the district cleans the water play area every day before operation and conducts regular chlorine disinfection. In addition, safety personnel are stationed to manage water quality and ensure safety.
Various cultural events can also be enjoyed at the Geumnaerae Art Hall located in front of the office building. At the Geumnaerae Gallery inside the art hall, visitors can view the exhibition "The Fox Who Eats Books, Swallows the Library." Through this exhibition, visitors can gain a new perspective on "The Fox Who Eats Books" by German author Franziska Biermann.
On July 26, the children's musical "If You Pick Your Nose" will be performed. On August 8 and 9, "Long Night," the most successful small theater musical from Daehangno, will be staged. On August 23, the children's character musical "The Fox Who Eats Books" will be performed.
Yoo Seonghun, Mayor of Geumcheon District, said, "I hope that by using the facilities provided by Geumcheon District Office, residents can cool off and stay healthy during this summer."
