On July 21, the Army took action to reassign a division commander who is under suspicion of abusing his authority.
As of this day, the Army has reassigned the commander of Infantry Division A, located in the Seoul metropolitan area, effectively removing him from his duties. The commander is suspected of abusing his position by ordering subordinates to pick Aralia elata shoots and install chicken coops, which are not part of normal military duties.
An Army official stated, "As of today, we have reassigned the commander of Division A to ensure an objective and fair investigation." The official added, "The Army Headquarters Inspector General's Office has begun an on-site investigation, and the military will take strict action based on the results of the investigation."
