Changwon Volunteer Organization Council Carries Out Recovery Efforts in Flood-Affected Areas of Sancheong County

Changwon Special City in South Gyeongsang Province announced that on July 21, the Changwon Volunteer Organization Council visited the Sichon-myeon area in Sancheong County to carry out flood recovery work.

Due to heavy rainfall on July 18, Sancheong County suffered even more severe flood damage as a result of landslides. In response to a request for volunteer support from the Gyeongsangnam-do Volunteer Center, more than 30 people from the Changwon Volunteer Center and the Changwon, Masan, and Jinhae branches of the Changwon Volunteer Organization Council joined together to participate in volunteer activities.


In addition, the volunteers prepared and brought their own equipment, such as boots and gloves, needed for the recovery work, taking into account the conditions at the disaster site. Upon arrival, they quickly carried out tasks such as removing soil, disposing of flood debris, and cleaning up flood remnants.


Jeon Jeongsuk, President of the Changwon Volunteer Organization Council, said, "I would like to express my condolences to the residents of Sancheong County, who are suffering a double hardship from both wildfire and now flood damage. Our volunteers will join forces, even if in a small way, to help the local residents return to their daily lives as soon as possible."


Jeong Suki, Director of the Autonomous Administration Bureau, stated, "I am deeply grateful to the Changwon Volunteer Organization Council for their steadfast volunteer work during this difficult time to help alleviate the hardships at the disaster site. The city will also do its utmost to provide various support activities for the swift recovery of the flood-affected areas."
