Held at Art Korea Lab on the 24th
The Arts Management Support Center of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on July 21 that it will hold the "AI×Art Forum: Questions and Policies for the Coexistence of AI and Culture and Arts" on July 24, in collaboration with the art-tech convergence community platform "ArtLab Club." ArtLab Club, operated by Art Korea Lab, is a convergence community platform consisting of small groups where creators, planners, and technologists from various genres gather to learn and exchange at the intersection of art and technology.
This forum has been organized to examine the policy and institutional challenges faced by the cultural and arts sector amid the rapid spread of generative artificial intelligence, and to seek practical solutions through the participation of experts and artists from various fields.
The forum will proceed in the following order: opening lecture, presentations by three experts, and an audience participation discussion. In the opening lecture, applied linguist Kim Sungwoo will present on the theme "Human Language and AI Language - From the Perspective of Embodiment and Externalization." He will examine how human literacy and ways of life are changing in the era of generative AI, and propose a shift in perception required for the coexistence of technology and humanity.
In the following presentation session, three experts who are actively working at the intersection of artistic creation, institutions, and law will each address current issues from their own perspectives.
Media artist Choi Seungjun will explore how technological advancement affects the perception and senses of individual artists. Seol Dongjun, CEO of Project Purplebee, will discuss the blind spots in public support systems arising from technological evolution and the challenges in addressing them. Attorney Jung Jiwoo will explain major legal issues such as copyright problems and rights attribution that arise during the training and generation processes of generative AI, and will deliver essential information that must be understood in the age of artificial intelligence.
During the subsequent audience participation discussion, various voices from the art field will be gathered, and practical discussions for future institutional improvements will take place.
Participation in the "AI×Art Forum" is available on a first-come, first-served basis through online pre-registration. Details on how to register and further information can be found in the notices on the websites of the Arts Management Support Center and Art Korea Lab.
Starting with this forum, Art Korea Lab plans to continue a series of follow-up forums exploring the intersection of AI and art. On September 26, in cooperation with the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute, a forum titled "Changes in the Art Ecosystem and Response Strategies in the AI Era" will be held. On November 11-12, a consecutive forum on "Creation, Production, and Commercialization Strategies Using AI Technology" will be held in connection with the Art Korea Lab Festival. Detailed schedules and information will be announced later on the website of the Arts Management Support Center.
