"I Will Not Run in the Party Convention, Will Serve as an Ordinary Member"
"I Brought Over 100,000 New Members When I Joined the PPP"
Jeon Han Gil, a former top Korean history instructor, stated that he has no intention of running in the People Power Party (PPP) convention, declaring, "As an ordinary party member, I will work to revive the PPP, which has been damaged."
On July 21, during an appearance on Channel A's radio show "Political Signal," Jeon said, "Some people suspect that I am seeking a PPP nomination to become a lawmaker or party leader because I have gained some popularity among the conservative base, but I have always been consistent," adding, "I have absolutely no intention of doing so."
He continued, "I will serve in the ranks just as Admiral Yi Sun-sin did," emphasizing, "As an ordinary party member, I will exercise my rights."
Jeon said he would focus on recruiting ordinary members to the PPP. He stated, "There is a meeting of ordinary party members scheduled for the day after tomorrow, and I will lead it," adding, "The true owners of the PPP are the party members, not the lawmakers."
Jeon remarked, "I believe that current PPP lawmakers are not reflecting the political demands of ordinary party members," and continued, "If the left had 'Gaeddal' (the hardcore supporters of President Lee Jae-myung), then on the right, I am considering creating an equivalent 'right-wing Gaeddal.' I plan to form a group of hundreds of thousands." He added, "I have a vision in which ordinary members unite and lead a bottom-up nomination process."
Previously, when joining the PPP, Jeon claimed, "100,000 viewers of Jeon Han Gil TV have joined the party as members." Regarding this, he said, "I believe the number could exceed 100,000," and added, "Currently, Jeon Han Gil News has 400,000 subscribers, and I told them, 'Let's join the PPP. If you want to catch a tiger, you have to enter its den. Let's go in and set the PPP straight ourselves.'"
Regarding Han Dong Hoon, the former PPP leader who is reportedly considering a bid for party leadership, Jeon criticized, "Han is someone who should not be in the PPP." He argued, "Looking back, Han Dong Hoon was the number one contributor to the birth of the Lee Jae-myung administration. If it hadn't been for Han Dong Hoon, there would have been no early presidential election."
