100 Bicycles Placed at 18 Stations...
Rental Available via Dedicated App
Re-rental Possible Within Usage Time and Insurance Included
Gwangmyeong City in Gyeonggi Province has introduced the public bicycle system "Gwangmyeongi," which will be operated on a pilot basis from July 21 until August 31.
"Gwangmyeongi" will be operated in a manner similar to Seoul's representative public bicycle system "Ddareungi." A total of 100 bicycles have been placed at 18 rental stations, mainly in high-traffic areas such as Cheolsan Station and Gwangmyeongsageori Station.
Gwangmyeong City started the pilot operation of the public bicycle "Gwangmyeongi" from the 21st. A total of 100 bicycles have been placed at 18 rental stations for pilot operation until the 31st of next month. Provided by Gwangmyeong City
Anyone can use the dedicated "Gwangmyeongi" app to check the locations of rental stations and the real-time status of bicycles, as well as rent bicycles.
The usage fees are divided as follows: 500 won for 30 minutes, 1,500 won for 1 hour, 2,000 won for 2 hours, and 2,500 won for 4 hours, based on a one-day pass. There are also 7-day, 30-day, and 365-day passes available for regular users. During the pilot period, a free pass will be provided to anyone who registers as a member.
One notable feature of Gwangmyeongi is that users can rent a bicycle again if they return it within the usage time. For example, if a user with a one-day 30-minute pass returns the bicycle within 30 minutes, they can rent a bicycle again in 30-minute increments throughout the same day for 24 hours. However, if the usage time is exceeded, an additional fee of 200 won will be charged for every 5 minutes.
To rent a bicycle, users need to install the dedicated app, sign up for membership, purchase a pass, and then either scan the QR code on the bicycle or tag a registered rental card. The rental card can also be used as a transportation card. All users are covered by insurance and public liability insurance for facilities.
The city plans to collect citizen feedback during the pilot period to improve service quality and convenience, and to expand the operating areas and the number of bicycles.
Park Seungwon, Mayor of Gwangmyeong, stated, "The public bicycle system 'Gwangmyeongi' embodies Gwangmyeong City's vision for achieving carbon neutrality and building a sustainable city," adding, "We will continue to operate the system strategically and flexibly so that bicycles can become a natural means of daily transportation for citizens."
