On July 20, the Gangneung City Animal Love Center posted a story titled "Returned After 7 Hours, and Kuno Came Back With Damaged Fur" on its official social media account.

According to the center, a two-year-old male stray dog named Kuno was adopted by a new family at around 1:30 p.m. on July 19. However, seven hours later, the adopter stated their intention to return Kuno, explaining that "he could not get along with the existing pet dog."

When Kuno returned to the shelter, his once thick fur had been left in a messy state after being shaved. The center commented, "Only the fur, ruined by a home grooming attempt, remains," and added, "To be honest, just having him returned is already discouraging, and now we are at a loss as to how to showcase his charm again."

The center continued, "His fur is a mess, and we were worried that his spirit might have been hurt as well. Fortunately, Kuno is still as bright as ever," adding, "That makes it even more heartbreaking, and we feel so sorry for Kuno."

Kuno is currently waiting for a new family. The center said, "Even when he came back, Kuno was not sulking at all. He rubbed up against us and tried to play. Kuno still loves people," and continued, "We hope he meets a real family before that loving spirit is broken. His fur may be damaged now, but it will grow back."

One online user who learned of Kuno's story expressed anger, saying, "This is abuse. How could they shave his fur like that as soon as he arrived? If you look closely at the photos, you can even see red wounds." Other users also reacted, saying, "Why did they leave his fur in such a state?" and "Did they take him just to practice grooming? This is heartbreaking."
