Complete Organizational Overhaul and Tactical Innovation Under Baek Gihong
Kicking Off a 'Top-Tier Rebellion' Together With Fans
Busan Transportation Corporation Football Club (President and Club Owner: Lee Byungjin), which finished 13th in the K3 League last season, has successfully rebounded by ending the first half of the 2025 season in 5th place.
The club is being evaluated as having transformed into a top-tier team through an overall organizational restructuring, tactical rebuilding, and strengthening of its training system.
Under the leadership of Head Coach Baek Gihong, who took the helm this season, the team has showcased stable performances by combining fast-paced attacking play with effective build-up from the back. In particular, the synergy between the contributions of young players and the leadership of veteran members has further strengthened the team's organization.
Busan Transportation Corporation pulled off an upset by defeating the K League 2 powerhouse Busan IPark 2-1 in the second round of the 2025 Korea Cup. In the 15th round K3 League home match against Changwon FC, the team continued its momentum by securing a 2-1 come-from-behind victory despite being at a numerical disadvantage due to a player being sent off. Riding this winning streak, the club is now leaving open the possibility of breaking into the top ranks.
Head Coach Baek Gihong stated, "If we maintain an upper-mid-table position this season, we can definitely aim for the championship next year," and added, "If we perform well against the top teams in the second half, we can expect to compete for the title this year as well."
A club that runs with the community, strengthening communication with fans as well. In line with the team's strong performances, the club is also focusing on strengthening local fan engagement and community activities. Through its official YouTube and Instagram channels, the club provides match highlights, starting lineups, and behind-the-scenes content to increase touchpoints with fans.
Additionally, the club has expanded its community outreach by holding five Escort Kids events this season, inviting local youth football prospects to take part. In particular, a special entrance event was organized for the children's fan group 'Yogurt Drinkers,' named after the club's supporters 'Soju Drinkers,' allowing them to walk onto the field with the players?a move that received a positive response.
The club has not forgotten to honor its long-time supporters. In April, the club invited Charlie Robinson, its first foreign supporter who has cheered for the team for 16 years, to present him with a commemorative jersey bearing his name and a bouquet of flowers, expressing deep gratitude.
President Lee Byungjin stated, "This season carries significance beyond just results," and added, "As we have laid the foundation for a new leap forward by overhauling our organization, culture, and operations, we will spare no effort to support the team so that we can continue to compete at the top with our fans."
