LG CNS to Drive AX in U.S. Manufacturing Through Partnership With Honeywell

Development of Manufacturing AX Technologies Including Factory Automation and Intelligence
Optimizing Production Processes for Higher Productivity... Driving Business Innovation

LG CNS is joining forces with the global industrial automation solutions company Honeywell to target the artificial intelligence transformation (AX) market in U.S. manufacturing.

Hyun Shinkyun, President of LG CNS, recently met with Pramesh Maheshwari, President of Honeywell Process Solutions (HPS), and other key executives at Honeywell's HPS division in Houston, Texas, to agree on the joint development of manufacturing AX technologies, including AI-based factory automation and intelligence.

Honeywell is a global technology company that supplies plant equipment sensors, control devices, and smart solutions in three main business sectors: industrial automation, aerospace, and energy. Honeywell HPS is the industrial automation business division of Honeywell, providing products and solutions for manufacturing process automation in industries such as petrochemicals and pharmaceuticals.

For example, LG CNS's problem-solving AI agent can analyze a wide range of production equipment data collected in real time by the distributed control systems at Honeywell's customer manufacturing plants. When an issue arises, it can immediately identify the cause and suggest solutions. The two companies also plan to build a "manufacturing AX platform" to advance the entire production process.

Initially, they will jointly develop a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) that can be applied to various industries such as semiconductors, batteries, and petrochemicals. MES is a core system in manufacturing that manages equipment, processes, and personnel on the production floor in real time, optimizing the production process to boost productivity. LG CNS plans to apply AI technology to all stages of production, including production planning, work orders, material inflow and outflow, and quality control, to build an integrated MES that manages all steps within a single system.

In addition, the two companies will discover new AX business opportunities based on successful cases in production and logistics from the "AI 100 in 100 Program" that LG CNS is currently carrying out with Korean clients. This program, which began earlier this year, is a project in which LG CNS builds 100 generative AI services within 100 days for corporate clients struggling to adopt generative AI due to technological, cost, or time constraints. To date, it has produced approximately 200 successful cases.

President Hyun stated, "This collaboration marks the first step in which both companies are working together to seek business innovation and technical solutions for U.S. manufacturing clients," adding, "We will leverage our top-tier AI and smart factory expertise, built up over many years, to provide differentiated manufacturing AX solutions to our clients."
