On SNS: "A Period of Unprecedented Significance Compared to Any President"
CBS Approval Rating at 42%... Down from 53% in February
On the 20th (local time), marking six months since his return to the White House, U.S. President Donald Trump stated, "America has become the hottest and most respected country in the world."
President Trump made this statement via his self-created social networking platform, Truth Social, saying, "Today marks the six-month anniversary of my second term, which is being recognized as a period of unprecedented significance compared to any previous president."
He added, "We have accomplished many good things and achieved remarkable successes," noting, "Among them is ending wars in several countries that, except for trade or, in some cases, friendship, have little to do with us."
The achievements President Trump referred to appear to include the ceasefire in the India-Pakistan armed conflict in May and the peace agreement between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda in June. However, the wars between Ukraine and Russia, and Israel and Hamas?which he had pledged to end within 24 hours of taking office?have still not reached a ceasefire agreement.
President Trump emphasized, "Six months is not a long time to completely revive a country," but added, "A year ago, our nation was considered dead with almost no hope for recovery, but now it has become the hottest and most respected country in the world." He continued by writing, "Happy anniversary," celebrating the six-month mark of his return to power.
Despite this self-praise, a public opinion poll released by CBS on the same day showed that President Trump's approval rating at the six-month point of his second term had fallen to 42%. This figure is more than 11 percentage points lower than the 53% recorded in a poll conducted in February, immediately after his inauguration.
Since returning to power on January 20 of this year, President Trump has waged a tariff war against countries around the world under his "America First" policy. He has also strongly pressured major allies, including South Korea and Japan, to increase their defense spending, and has secured commitments from NATO member states to raise their defense expenditures to 5% of their respective GDPs. Domestically, he passed a large-scale tax cut bill containing key policy agendas earlier this month, led by the Republican Party, and is forcefully and rapidly pursuing measures such as the deportation of illegal immigrants and the repeal of environmental policies.
