President Lee Jaemyung on the 20th ordered a swift assessment of the damage caused by heavy rain and called for the prompt designation of special disaster zones.


Kang Yujeong, spokesperson for the presidential office, announced this in a written briefing on the same day.


According to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, as of 11 a.m. on this day, 14 people have died due to the extreme heavy rain that began on the 16th. There are 12 people missing, and 13,209 people from 9,694 households have evacuated across 90 cities, counties, and districts in 14 provinces and metropolitan areas.
