Specifically, the notice outlined the following: ▲Do not force solo diners to order more than one serving ▲Allow customers to choose their own seats and ensure they have enough time to eat ▲Greet and guide customers in a polite and gentle manner ▲When customers select menu items, provide detailed explanations about ingredients, cooking methods, and prices.

The city also conducted a "Restaurant Friendly Service Campaign" on July 18, the day after sending the official notice.
The controversy originated from a video posted on July 3 by a female YouTuber. In the video, the YouTuber visits a well-known restaurant in Yeosu and is scolded and rebuked by the owner.

In the video, the restaurant owner says, "Our place is not just for young ladies coming alone. Hurry up and eat. If you stay like this, you'll be here forever." When the YouTuber tries to pay, the owner says, "Leave it. Just go. Please leave quickly," essentially telling her to leave. The YouTuber expressed her distress, saying, "I had only been there for 20 minutes. I ordered two servings, but the owner spoke to me as if scolding someone for eating, which left me embarrassed."
In response, Yeosu City announced that it had visited the restaurant in question to conduct an on-site inspection. On July 15, staff from the Food Hygiene Division visited the establishment, met with the owner, and provided training on friendly service, along with administrative guidance. In addition, the city launched a special hygiene inspection separate from this incident. The city stated that it plans to focus on inspecting the cleanliness of ingredients and the hygiene of cooking facilities at numerous restaurants in the area. If violations are found, the city warned that it will impose strong administrative penalties, including fines.
