[Breaking] Up to 759mm of Rainfall in Gyeongnam... Three Dead, Three Missing, Seventeen Rescued in Sancheong Landslide

The National Fire Agency announced on July 19 that three people have died in Sancheong County, Gyeongnam Province, due to landslides caused by heavy rainfall.

As of now, three people have been confirmed dead and two are in cardiac arrest as a result of this accident. Three people are missing and are presumed to be buried under earth and debris. Seventeen people have been rescued.


Earlier, at 1:00 p.m. on the same day, the National Fire Agency issued a 'National Fire Mobilization Order.' Currently, the agency has deployed 61 personnel and 25 pieces of equipment from the Central 119 Rescue Headquarters, as well as the fire departments of Chungbuk, Chungnam, Daegu, and Gyeongbuk, to carry out rescue operations.


Since July 16, a total of 759mm of accumulated rainfall has been recorded in Sicheon-myeon, Sancheong County over four days, with extreme rainfall of 632mm hitting the Sancheong County area for the fourth consecutive day.
