President Lee Approves Appointment of Jeong Seongho, Koo Yooncheol, Cho Hyun, and Kim Jeonggwan as Ministers the Previous Day
President Lee Jaemyung has approved the appointment of Yoon Hojoong as Minister of the Interior and Safety, the presidential office announced on the 19th. Of the 18 cabinet nominees for the first administration (excluding Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Song Miryung, who remains in her post), the appointment procedures for six have been completed.
The previous night, the National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee adopted the confirmation hearing report on Minister Yoon through bipartisan agreement.
The reason the confirmation hearing report for one of the initial cabinet nominees was adopted by bipartisan agreement on the day of the hearing was that both parties agreed there could not be a leadership vacuum in the disaster and safety control tower while the country was suffering severe damage from record-breaking heavy rains.

The previous evening, President Lee had also approved the appointments of Jeong Seongho as Minister of Justice, Koo Yooncheol as Minister of Economy and Finance, Cho Hyun as Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Kim Jeonggwan as Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy.
As a result, the 'troika' to lead prosecutorial reform?composed of Jeong Seongho (Justice), Yoon Hojoong (Interior and Safety), and Bong Wook (Senior Presidential Secretary for Civil Affairs)?has been completed. It is expected that Minister Jeong and Minister Yoon will take the lead in separating prosecutorial investigation and indictment, with Senior Secretary Bong Wook providing support.
