The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Blue House Foundation announced on the 19th that a woman in her 40s was apprehended after spray-painting graffiti in red on the Yeongbin Gate of the Blue House on the night of the 18th, and that emergency restoration work was carried out.

The Ministry and the Foundation stated that at around 9:30 p.m. on the 18th, an unauthorized act of graffiti using red spray paint occurred at the Yeongbin Gate of the Blue House, and that a woman in her 40s, referred to as Ms. A, was apprehended at the scene. They further explained that an on-site response team and a professional company were urgently dispatched, and emergency cleaning and repainting work on the Yeongbin Gate was carried out for about two hours, with restoration completed at around 1:30 a.m. on the 19th.
The Ministry and the Foundation added that, in order to ensure the complete restoration of the facility, additional repair work will be completed by the 21st, depending on weather conditions.
They also emphasized that, to prevent the recurrence of such incidents, patrols and surveillance around the Blue House will be strengthened, and, in consultation with the Jongno Police Station, a facility protection request will be submitted to manage the perimeter of the Blue House more securely.
