Korail to Gradually Resume Train Operations... Gwangju and Mokpo Routes Still Suspended

"Please Make Sure to Check Train Operations Before Use," Korail Urges

Korail announced that it would gradually resume train operations from 10:00 a.m. on July 19, after suspensions caused by heavy rainfall.

With this measure, normal train operations have resumed on all sections of the Gyeongbu Line (conventional trains), Jeolla Line, Janghang Line, Seohae Line, and Chungbuk Line.

However, some sections where heavy rain is still falling remain suspended.

On the Honam Line, high-speed trains are still not operating between Gwangju Songjeong Station and Mokpo Station, and conventional trains remain suspended between Iksan Station and Mokpo Station. On the Gyeongjeon Line, conventional trains are not running between Masan Station and Gwangju Station.

Korail explained, "Due to continued rainfall, it is difficult to inspect the facilities," and added, "We will announce separately when operations can be resumed."

Korail stated that before resuming train operations, it had carried out emergency repairs on damaged tracks and completed safety inspections of facilities by operating test trains on all lines.

However, since heavy rain advisories are still in effect in some areas, train operations on certain sections may be temporarily suspended or run at reduced speeds depending on weather conditions.

Korail strongly advised passengers to check real-time train operation status through the 'Korail Talk' mobile application, the official website, or the railway customer center before using train services.
