Gokseong County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Cho Sangrae) announced on the 18th that it is operating a Comprehensive Agricultural Situation Room to quickly identify and respond to crop damage caused by the recent heavy rainfall.
In particular, the county has formed an on-site technical support team to focus on inspecting the status of flood damage to specialized crops such as melons and taro. In addition, with the heavy rain subsiding, the county conducted on-site inspections across the entire area between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. on the 18th.
The Comprehensive Agricultural Situation Room is monitoring the status of farms and agricultural damage, and is working to prevent further damage by providing tailored on-site guidance on pest control and cultivation management methods. Along with this, the county is regularly inspecting the damage to farms in preparation for ongoing weather changes, and is also discussing comprehensive measures for recovery and prevention of recurrence.
Seo Yeonnam, head of the Agricultural Technology Center, said, "Although farmers are facing significant difficulties due to the heavy rain, we will help them recover from the damage through active on-site response and continuous support measures aimed at minimizing losses."
