The retail industry has stepped up to provide relief supplies and support recovery efforts in areas affected by nationwide heavy rainfall.

According to the retail industry on July 18, BGF Retail, which operates the convenience store chain CU, supplied emergency relief goods to the Chungnam region. BGF Retail activated its national disaster emergency relief program, 'BGF Bridge,' established in cooperation with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the National Disaster Relief Association, and urgently delivered relief supplies from the BGF Logis Asan distribution center to Asan City, Dangjin City, and Yesan County.

The relief supplies delivered consisted of more than 12,000 food and beverage items across 13 categories, including bottled water, instant noodles, chocolate bars, and canned coffee. These supplies are intended to be distributed to local residents affected by the disaster and relief personnel. BGF Retail is continuously monitoring the damage situation and is considering additional support as needed.

GS Retail, which operates the GS25 convenience store chain, also delivered emergency relief supplies to residents affected by the disaster in Gwangju Metropolitan City, Gokseong County in Jeollanam-do, and Naju City. The relief supplies, totaling about 4,000 items such as bottled water and snacks, were delivered to five shelters: Yongbong Elementary School in Gwangju, Jisan Elementary School in Gwangju, Okgwa High School in Gokseong, Gokseong Leisure Culture Center, and a village community center in Dasimyeon, Naju City.

GS Retail plans to assess the ongoing flood damage and demand in order to consider further support, and has stated its commitment to actively cooperate in the recovery efforts.

Hyundai Department Store is running an H.Point app campaign to match point donations for neighbors affected by flood damage until July 31. For every point donated by customers, Hyundai Department Store will contribute an equal amount, with all donations to be delivered to the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association.

The H.Point app allows customers to check points accumulated across eight major affiliates of Hyundai Department Store Group and use them like cash to purchase products. Since 2022, Hyundai Department Store has been running point donation campaigns to make it easy for customers to participate in charitable giving. During the emergency fundraising campaign in March for wildfire recovery in Gyeongbuk, Gyeongnam, and Ulsan, more than 13,000 people participated within a single day, surpassing the target amount.
