This meeting was organized in light of recent developments, such as medical students declaring their return, which have begun to ease the prolonged conflict between the medical community and the government. The meeting was held based on the judgment that joint efforts within the medical community are necessary to resume resident training. The purpose is to achieve normalization of the medical field through internal communication and unity. The KMA is a legally recognized medical association, while the Korean Academy of Medical Sciences is an academic organization that oversees resident training and specialist qualification examinations.

Kim Taekwoo, president of the KMA, stated, "Now that a breakthrough has been made in resolving the situation, it is time to focus all our efforts on ensuring that medical students receive proper education and residents receive proper training, so that competent medical professionals can be produced. As the two main pillars of the medical community, the KMA and the Korean Academy of Medical Sciences must fulfill their mission and work closely together."

Lee Jinwoo, president of the Korean Academy of Medical Sciences, also remarked, "To normalize training, we need to design a future-oriented system that can remain true to the essence of training in the long term. At the academy level, we will prepare and propose practical measures to improve the quality of resident education and enhance the system."

Starting with this meeting, the KMA and the Korean Academy of Medical Sciences announced that they will strengthen their joint response system to current issues and work to solidify internal integration so that all sectors of the medical community?including private practitioners, residents, and medical school professors?can actively communicate.
