The Gwangju Community Chest of Korea (hereinafter referred to as "Gwangju Sarangui Yeolmae") announced on July 18 that it recently held a membership ceremony for new members of the "Honor Society," a group of major donors who have contributed more than 100 million KRW.

The event, which took place on July 17 in the business room of Gwangju City Hall, was attended by Kijung Kang, Mayor of Gwangju and Honorary Chairman of Gwangju Sarangui Yeolmae; Jaegil Koo, Chairman of the Gwangju Community Chest of Korea; Sangcheol Lee, Chairman of Hwain Deco Co., Ltd. (Representative of Gwangju Honor Society); four new members of the Gwangju Honor Society; and other related officials.

The new Honor Society members are: Youngchul Cho, Chairman of Woori Eum Social Cooperative (No. 187); Daewon Kim, Chairman of Ramada Plaza Gwangju Hotel (No. 188); Honghyun Yoon, CEO of Jeil Co., Ltd. (No. 189); and Ryul Kim, CEO of Dancheong·Monettoire (No. 190). Ryul Kim, the new Honor member, is the son of Inha Park, Honor member No. 114 in Gwangju, marking the birth of the second mother-son Honor members in Gwangju.

These individuals have consistently practiced sharing in their respective fields, spreading positive influence throughout the local community, and have taken their first steps as leading major donors in Gwangju. With this membership ceremony, four new members have joined the Honor Society, bringing the total number of Honor members in Gwangju to 190.

This new membership is also noteworthy as it represents the first achievement of Jaegil Koo, who was inaugurated as the 14th Chairman on July 1 and has made the spread of Gwangju-style sharing culture his core vision, personally leading the recruitment efforts.

Chairman Koo stated, "Sharing is something we create together, not alone. I would like to thank the new Honor members for joining in this spirit of sharing, and I will do my utmost to ensure that even more sharing spreads throughout the year."

Meanwhile, the Honor Society is a group of individual major donors established by the Community Chest of Korea, aiming to create a brighter future through participation and support based on interest in and understanding of social issues. Only individuals who make a one-time donation of at least 100 million KRW or pledge to pay this amount within five years are eligible to join.
