Sudden heavy downpours caused significant damage throughout the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions, with approximately 60 damage reports filed in Yeonggwang County, Jeonnam alone.
According to the Yeonggwang Fire Station on July 18, a total of 63 damage reports were received in Yeonggwang County due to the torrential rain that fell throughout July 17.
The majority of reports received that day involved flooded homes, flooded roads, and requests for animal rescue. Yeonggwang Fire Station deployed a total of 43 pieces of equipment and 95 personnel, successfully rescuing seven residents.
Immediately after the Korea Meteorological Administration issued a heavy rain warning, Yeonggwang Fire Station entered emergency duty and began preemptive preparations. Through close cooperation with related organizations such as the county office and police, they were able to minimize the damage.
An official from Yeonggwang Fire Station stated, "Even in the midst of sudden heavy downpours, the preemptive emergency duty system and cooperation with related agencies enabled a swift and efficient response," adding, "We will do our utmost to protect the lives and property of county residents."
