Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on the 17th (local time), "I am pleased to welcome the special envoy delegation of the Republic of Korea led by former Prime Minister Kim Boo Kyum."
On the same day, Prime Minister Modi said on X (formerly Twitter), "This reminds me of the meaningful meeting I had with President Lee Jaemyung last month," expressing his sentiments.
He also noted, "The special strategic partnership between India and Korea, which marks its 10th anniversary this year, continues to develop in various fields such as innovation, defense, shipbuilding, and human resource exchanges." He added, "Close cooperation between our two democracies contributes to the peace, stability, and prosperity of the Indo-Pacific region."
Last month, President Lee Jaemyung visited Kananaskis, Canada, to attend the Group of Seven (G7) summit and held a summit meeting with Prime Minister Modi on the 17th. At the beginning of the meeting, President Lee expressed condolences regarding an aviation accident. He also expressed his hope that the two countries would elevate their relationship to a new level through strategic cooperation and comprehensive deepening of bilateral ties.
The special envoy delegation, composed of former Prime Minister Kim Boo Kyum, Democratic Party Supreme Council member Song Soonho, and National Assembly member Lee Gaeho, departed on the 16th. The delegation is reportedly scheduled to discuss ways to expand the Korea-India special strategic partnership into a comprehensive cooperative relationship.
Meanwhile, President Lee Jaemyung decided to dispatch special envoys sequentially to major countries starting from the 14th, and announced the list of delegations for four destinations: the European Union (EU), France, the United Kingdom, and India.
