This contest, organized by the Liberal Arts Education Center of the Undergraduate College at National Pukyong University, invited students to create and submit videos recommending liberal arts courses they had taken to their juniors and peers. The purpose was to realize learner-centered liberal arts education and to foster a student-driven academic atmosphere.
The contest ran for about a month starting in June, with a total of 18 teams and 22 participants. The final winners were selected based on creativity, artistic quality, content completeness, logical structure, and feasibility.
The grand prize went to the student team of Choi Hyunjung (Division of Interdisciplinary Studies) and Jung Jiyeon (Department of English Language and Literature), who recommended the "Global Foreign Language - College English" course. They received the highest score for presenting the excellence of the course, which utilized CANVA and Spot Virtual in class, in the style of a home shopping broadcast.
The top excellence awards were given to the student team of Kim Nahyun (Department of Environmental Engineering) and Cheon Sohyun (Department of Environmental Engineering), who recommended the "Vocal Ensemble" course, and to Seo Hyewon (Department of Smart Mobility Engineering), who recommended the "Child Development and Education" course.
In addition, teams that introduced the "Dongwon Life Academy," "Reading American Culture," "Social Service (I)," and "Understanding Visual Arts" courses received excellence and encouragement awards, respectively.
National Pukyong University plans to release the award-winning videos on the Undergraduate College website and provide them as references for students when selecting liberal arts courses during the pre-registration period for the upcoming second semester.
Choi Hoseok, Dean of the Undergraduate College, stated, "This contest has become an opportunity to actively learn and spread the competencies gained from liberal arts courses, which have become even more important with the establishment of the Division of Interdisciplinary Studies. We will continue to expand student participation programs to strengthen learner-centered liberal arts education."
