Heavy traffic congestion is expected this weekend due to a large-scale rally organized by the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU).
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced on July 18 that a large-scale KCTU rally and march, expected to draw tens of thousands of participants, will take place in areas including Namdaemun-ro and Toegye-ro. The agency added that some roads in the downtown area will be subject to traffic control measures.
On July 19, starting at 11:00 a.m., KCTU-affiliated groups will hold preliminary rallies in areas including Baekbeom-ro in Gongdeok-dong. From 3:00 p.m., a large-scale rally will be held on Namdaemun-ro, followed by marches toward the Government Complex on Sajik-ro and the Sejong Hotel area on Toegye-ro.
A police official urged, "Major roads in the downtown area are expected to experience heavy congestion, so we recommend using the subway whenever possible. If you must drive, please check traffic information in advance."
