The Kospi turned weak during intraday trading, pressured by net selling from foreign investors and individuals.


As of 10:08 a.m. on July 18, 2025, the Kospi was trading at 3,184.48, down 0.24% from the previous day. The Kospi had opened slightly higher earlier in the session.


By investor type, institutions were net buyers of 54.3 billion won, while foreign investors and individuals were net sellers of 32.6 billion won and 40.7 billion won, respectively. In the futures market, institutions were net sellers of 117.3 billion won, while foreign investors and individuals were net buyers of 13.5 billion won and 114.6 billion won, respectively.


By sector, more industries were declining than rising. The insurance sector was down 4.07%, securities down 3.02%, distribution down 2.28%, textiles and apparel down 1.9%, food, beverage and tobacco down 1.9%, finance down 1.59%, electricity and gas down 1.49%, transportation and storage down 1.4%, construction down 1.29%, medical precision down 1.01%, paper and wood down 0.82%, and IT services down 0.88%. On the other hand, electrical and electronics rose 1.25%, metals 0.57%, and non-metals 0.5%.


Among the top stocks by market capitalization, performances were mixed. Samsung Electronics was up 1.5%, LG Energy Solution up 1.74%, Hanwha Aerospace up 0.11%, and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries up 1.12%. In contrast, SK Hynix was slightly down by 0.19%, Samsung Biologics down 1.21%, KB Financial down 1.13%, Doosan Enerbility down 0.47%, and Celltrion down 0.06%.


At the same time, the Kosdaq index was holding steady with slight gains. The Kosdaq was trading at 818.99, up 0.1% from the previous day. By investor type, institutions and individuals were net buyers of 9.7 billion won and 2 billion won, respectively, while foreign investors were net sellers of 11.4 billion won.


Among the top Kosdaq stocks by market capitalization, more stocks were rising than falling. Alteogen was up 0.51%, Ecopro BM up 7.87%, Peptron up 2.12%, Ecopro up 4.18%, Rigakem Bio up 6.84%, Hugel up 0.99%, Samchundang Pharm up 0.06%, ABL Bio up 2.33%, and Kolon TissueGene up 1.37%. On the other hand, HLB was down 1.85%, Pharmaresearch down 1.04%, Rainbow Robotics down 0.55%, and Lino Industrial down 0.2%.


Meanwhile, in the Seoul foreign exchange market, the won/dollar exchange rate was trading at 1,389.9 won, down 2.3 won from the previous day.
