Gwangju City to Hold Public Hearing on "Taxi Fare Adjustment" on July 22

On July 18, the Gwangju city government announced that it will hold a public hearing on the topic of taxi fare adjustment at 3:30 p.m. on July 22 in the main auditorium of the Gwangju Transportation Culture Training Center.

This public hearing aims to seek ways for mutual growth between the taxi industry and citizens, and to gather public opinion on the 2025 taxi fare adjustment plan. Since taxi fares affect both the daily lives of citizens and the management of the taxi industry, the event has been organized to collect a wide range of opinions in order to reach a social consensus.

In particular, this public hearing will be presided over by Mayor Kang Gijung and conducted in a free discussion format, with the intention of listening broadly to the voices of both citizens and industry representatives. The city government, the city council, taxi drivers, civic groups, and experts are expected to participate in in-depth discussions.

Meanwhile, in November of last year, the Gwangju city government signed a mutual growth agreement with the taxi industry and conducted a research study to develop measures for fare adjustment. At this public hearing, the city plans to communicate directly with citizens based on the results of that study, thereby ensuring transparency and fairness in policy-making.
