Experience the Sea, Countryside, and Space All in One Place
Rated as the Perfect Family Destination for Summer
Jeonnam Province has selected Byeolnaro Village in Ochwiri, Podu-myeon, Goheung as this month's rural experience and leisure village, highlighting it as an ideal family travel destination for the summer season.
Byeolnaro Village is a unique experience and leisure village where visitors can enjoy the sea, rural life, and space exploration all in one place. Set against the backdrop of expansive farmland and mudflats created by the reclamation of Haechangman, it offers a variety of experience programs and local foods in nature, making it an attractive destination for visitors of all ages.
In particular, the mudflat experience, where visitors can collect and observe various mudflat creatures such as clams, periwinkles, turban shells, and fiddler crabs, is especially popular among families with children. The seafood caught by visitors can be cooked and eaten on the spot, providing a fresh culinary experience as well.
Additionally, there is a space near the Haechangman floodgate where visitors can enjoy sea fishing against the backdrop of the open ocean and the beautiful village scenery. Fishing gear and life vests are provided, making it easy for beginners to participate.
Visitors can also take part in a yuzu syrup making experience using yuzu, a specialty product of Goheung. While making yuzu syrup, participants learn about the growth process and benefits of yuzu, and they can take home the syrup they make as a souvenir, providing both educational value and practicality.
Nearby Byeolnaro Village are Goheung's representative attractions, the Naro Space Center and the Space Launch Observation Deck, where visitors can experience advanced space science. At the Naro Space Center, visitors can view exhibitions and videos related to space, and the observation deck features displays that recreate actual launch scenes, allowing visitors to experience both the current state and future vision of Korea's space technology.
Kim Hyunmi, Director of Agricultural Policy at Jeonnam Province, stated, "We plan to actively promote rural experience and leisure villages that are ideal for family trips during the summer vacation season," adding, "We hope that visitors to these villages will create wonderful memories."
Currently, Jeonnam Province operates 172 rural experience and leisure villages.
