Kim Dongyeon Responds to 'Extreme Heavy Rain': Department Heads Meeting → Mayors and Governors Video Conference → Attends Central Disaster Headquarters

Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dongyeon will consecutively hold a series of meetings related to heavy rainfall on July 18, including a meeting with department and bureau heads and a video conference with mayors and county governors.

Governor Kim will first preside over a meeting with department and bureau heads regarding heavy rain response at 9:00 a.m. in Seohee Hall at the Gwanggyo provincial government building in Suwon. During the meeting, he will review recent cases of damage caused by heavy rainfall in the province, such as the retaining wall collapse accident in Osan, and discuss future countermeasures.

Then, at 9:30 a.m., he will preside over a video conference with the mayors and county governors of 31 cities and counties in the province at the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters Meeting Room 1.

At 10:30 a.m., he will also attend a video conference with the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety at Meeting Room 2 of the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters.

Previously, from July 16 to 17, incidents such as the retaining wall collapse in Osan, flooding of homes and vehicles, and landslides resulted in casualties and property damage, with some residents having evacuated. Heavy rainfall of up to 200mm in the southern region and more than 150mm in the northern region of Gyeonggi Province is forecast to continue until the morning of July 18.
