In Gwangju, where extreme heavy rain has continued, a report was received that a person had been swept away by rainwater, prompting the police and fire authorities to begin a verification process.

According to the Bukbu Police Station in Gwangju and other sources, at around 10:18 p.m. on the previous day, a citizen reported near Sinan Bridge in Bukgu that "a person is being swept away by the river." The informant stated that the individual appeared to be in their 60s and was swept away by the water.
The police and fire authorities are conducting a search of the surrounding area to verify the exact facts. So far, apart from the statement of the informant, no evidence has been found to confirm whether anyone is missing. A fire department official stated, "We are still verifying the facts, and it is too early to determine whether there has been any human casualty."
On the previous day, Gwangju recorded 426.4 mm of rainfall in a single day, breaking the record for the highest daily precipitation in July.
