A proposal to paint emergency exit fire doors with highly visible luminous materials won the grand prize at the "Safety Proposal Policy Audition" hosted by Gyeonggi Province.
On July 17, Gyeonggi Province held the final evaluation of the "Safety Proposal Policy Audition (Safety, Do More!)" at Dasan Hall in the provincial government office and selected five outstanding proposals submitted directly by residents as the final winners.
Gyeonggi Province organized this contest to directly identify the inconveniences and safety issues experienced by residents in their daily lives and to develop these into creative and feasible policies.
The grand prize went to the "Application of Color to Emergency Exit Fire Doors" proposal, which suggests painting fire doors with fluorescent materials that can self-illuminate, allowing for clear identification of emergency exits even in darkness and smoke during a fire.

The other award-winning proposals included: ▲ First Prize - "The Most Important Thing Is Unbreakable Safety" ▲ Excellence Award - "Operation Plan for Gyeonggi-Style One-Stop Support Center for Disaster Victims" ▲ Encouragement Awards - "Strengthening Urban Flood Prevention During the Rainy Season by Operating Neighborhood Rainwater Inlet Guardians and Linking with Climate Safety Maps" and "Utilizing Flood Risk Prediction Systems Based on Precipitation Forecast Data," among others.
Previously, in June, Gyeonggi Province invited the public nationwide to submit ideas on topics such as road subsidence, response to climate disasters, and prevention of everyday safety hazards. A total of 296 policy proposals were received. After the first and second rounds of document screening and online public verification, ten final candidates were selected for the final evaluation held on this day.
Kim Byungyeon, Director of Opportunity Strategy at Gyeonggi Province, said, "We expect that the creative and innovative ideas of our residents will be implemented as actual policies, further improving the safety environment in Gyeonggi Province," adding, "We will continue to provide institutional support so that residents' proposals can be consistently reflected in provincial administration."
