Park Baekbeom, former Vice Minister of Education, who is considered a potential candidate for Superintendent of Sejong City Education in next year's local elections, reportedly met with incumbent Superintendent Choi Gyojin on July 17 to discuss the future of education in Sejong. Park served as Vice Minister of Education during the Moon Jae-in administration.

According to current law, superintendents of city and provincial education offices, who are elected alongside local government heads in local elections, are subject to a three-term limit. Therefore, Superintendent Choi Gyojin, who is currently serving his third term, will complete his tenure with next year's local elections and is not eligible to run for a fourth term.

On his SNS, Park wrote, "(On the 17th) I visited Superintendent Choi Gyojin and received valuable advice and encouragement," expressing his gratitude to Choi and posting commemorative photos.

Park commented on the School Support Headquarters established by Superintendent Choi last year, saying, "I hope it will be expanded into an Education Support Headquarters so that the education office can better support education in Sejong." He added, "I plan to meet Superintendent Choi frequently and seek his guidance," and also stated, "If given the opportunity, I would like to work for the advancement of education in Sejong." This is interpreted as a message that he intends to continue the achievements made during Superintendent Choi's tenure.
