Discussed Emergency Support Plans for SMEs and Small Business Owners
No Yongseok, Vice Minister of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, visited sites affected by flood damage on the 17th and held an emergency meeting to inspect the response to the heavy rainfall.
Vice Minister No visited Dangjin Traditional Market in Chungnam, which suffered damage due to the heavy rain, to check the flood damage and recovery status and to listen to the concerns of the merchants. He stated, "I would like to express my deepest sympathy to the merchants who have suffered significant losses due to the heavy rain," and added, "We will closely cooperate with Chungcheongnam-do Province and Dangjin City to support recovery efforts so that normal business operations can resume as soon as possible."

In the Chungnam region, cumulative rainfall has exceeded 500mm, with extreme downpours reaching up to 115mm per hour. At Dangjin Traditional Market, 175 stores have suffered damage such as floor flooding, and recovery work is underway. Fortunately, there have been no reported casualties so far.
Vice Minister No pointed out that Dangjin Traditional Market has experienced flooding again, following last year, and instructed that fundamental improvement measures be prepared in consultation with local governments for traditional markets located in low-lying areas or near rivers, which are structurally vulnerable to flooding. He also reiterated the importance of maintaining a strong response posture to heavy rain and establishing effective cooperation systems with local governments and related agencies.
Afterward, Vice Minister No presided over an emergency inspection meeting with the heads of 13 regional offices responsible for on-site support for SMEs and traditional markets. During the meeting, they shared their preparedness and response measures for natural disasters and discussed efficient support plans for affected SMEs and small business owners.
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups is preparing to provide support, such as emergency management stabilization funds, to help SMEs and small business owners affected by the heavy rainfall quickly return to normal. In particular, preparations are proceeding smoothly for facility restoration and management stabilization support for affected SMEs and small business owners in accordance with the revised Disaster and Safety Management Basic Act, which will take effect on November 28.
