The Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced on the 17th that it will hold a "Practical Training on Utilizing FTAs and Customs Duty Drawbacks to Enhance Export Competitiveness" for local business representatives and executives and staff members.
This training, to be held on the morning of the 22nd in the second lecture room of the Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is part of the FTA Trade Promotion Center program operated by the chamber. Its main objectives are to improve the utilization of the FTA system among local small and medium-sized enterprises and mid-sized companies, and to strengthen practical competencies in customs administration. The course is designed as a hands-on, practical training that can be immediately applied by professionals engaged in export and import operations, and is therefore expected to be highly effective.
The lecture will be conducted by customs broker Kim Hyuncheol from Passwin Customs Corporation. Drawing on many years of practical experience, Kim will explain topics such as an overview of the customs duty drawback system and refund methods, criteria and case studies for determining origin, and practical management of origin, using real-life examples to ensure easy understanding. The training is expected to provide substantial assistance to professionals working in the field.
This course grants eight points toward the qualification for dedicated origin management personnel, making it particularly beneficial for companies preparing to obtain certified exporter status. The certified exporter system is a government program that grants certification to companies with autonomous origin management capabilities after a review of certain requirements. Certified exporters can benefit from simplified documentation and streamlined customs procedures when utilizing FTAs.
Participation in the training is completely free of charge, and applications can be submitted via fax or email until the 21st. For inquiries, please contact the Gwangju FTA Trade Promotion Center.
Kang Jobyung, head of the Gwangju FTA Trade Promotion Center, stated, "The FTA system and customs duty drawbacks are essential tools for enhancing the price competitiveness of export companies, so it is very important for field professionals to understand and utilize them properly. We hope that this practical training will provide tangible benefits to companies and lead to strengthened export competitiveness for local businesses."
