2,000 Packets of Powdered Drink Provided
to Support Soldiers' Hydration
Dong-A Otsuka announced on the 17th that it has provided powdered Pocari Sweat to the soldiers of Hanbit 20th Unit of the South Sudan Reconstruction Support Group, who are scheduled to be dispatched to South Sudan next month.
The official name of the Hanbit Unit is the "Republic of Korea South Sudan Reconstruction Support Group." When South Sudan gained independence in 2011, former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon requested the dispatch of Korean troops. The first unit was deployed in 2013, continuing this history. This time, the 20th unit is scheduled to depart in early August to carry out its mission.

Dong-A Otsuka prepared this support to help the soldiers safely and healthily perform their duties in South Sudan, despite the challenging climate and environment. In particular, to help them maintain their physical strength and replenish body fluids in the tropical climate, the company provided powdered Pocari Sweat so that the ion beverage can be easily consumed.
Dong-A Otsuka supplied 2,000 packets of powdered Pocari Sweat to improve the welfare of 300 Korean soldiers who will be carrying out their mission overseas for eight months.
Park Cheolho, CEO of Dong-A Otsuka, stated, "We hope this small but practical support will be of real help to the soldiers who are dedicating themselves far from home," and added, "We will continue to support the healthy mission performance of Korean troops and provide practical assistance in the future."
Meanwhile, Dong-A Otsuka has been continuously providing Pocari Sweat to military units in need of hydration, including the Korea Army Training Center, Capital Mechanized Infantry Division, Dongmyeong Unit of the Lebanon Peacekeeping Force, Korea Military Academy, and Yulgok Unit.
