Hana Financial Sharing Foundation announced on the 17th that it held the '17th Hana Multicultural Family Awards' ceremony at the main auditorium of Hana Financial Group's Myeongdong headquarters, officially sponsored by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family.
The 'Hana Multicultural Family Awards,' which has been held annually since 2009 as the first of its kind in Korea and now marks its 17th year, was established to recognize exemplary marriage immigrants and to discover and support individuals and organizations that have provided practical assistance to multicultural families. The purpose is to raise social awareness of multicultural families and to contribute to building a society where everyone lives together in harmony with multicultural families.
At the awards ceremony, Lee Seungyeol, Chairman of Hana Financial Sharing Foundation, Nguyen Thi Thai Binh, Deputy Ambassador of Vietnam to Korea, Edwin Gil Mendoza, Acting Ambassador of the Philippines to Korea, and Bancha Yunyongcharoen, Minister of the Thai Embassy in Korea, attended to present awards and encourage the recipients.
A total of 13 individuals and 3 organizations were honored at this year's ceremony. The awardees were selected through a three-month process of expert evaluation and on-site inspections, following a nationwide call for nominations that began in April. The awards were presented in three categories: Happy Family Award, Hopeful Family Award, and Happy Support Award (for individuals and organizations). The top honor, the Minister of Gender Equality and Family Award, went to Zhang Chunhua, a marriage immigrant from China.
Zhang Chunhua, who has been married for 21 years, was selected as the grand prize winner for building a harmonious family with her husband and two children based on love and trust, establishing a village enterprise to help other marriage immigrant women settle and become self-reliant, and contributing to community integration, serving as a role model for neighbors and other marriage immigrants.
In addition, heartfelt stories were shared about the awardees' lives in Korea, highlighting how they overcame numerous hardships with strong will and resilience in unfamiliar environments and established themselves as proud members of their local communities.
Lee Seungyeol, Chairman of Hana Financial Sharing Foundation, stated, "I sincerely support all marriage immigrants who, as pillars of their harmonious families and as proud members of their communities, are doing their best in their respective roles and opening up a hopeful future. We will continue to work hard to create a society that grows together with multicultural families, respects one another, and becomes united as one."
Meanwhile, Hana Financial Sharing Foundation, established in 2005 by Hana Financial Group as the first charitable public foundation in the Korean banking sector, is committed to systematic and continuous practice of neighborly love and sharing management in line with the group's ESG management philosophy.
