Gyeonggi Office of Education Launches Non-Traditional Training Program "Teacher Creator"

The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education has launched the operation of "teacher creators," who will produce content on topics and subjects needed in schools.

The provincial office announced on July 17 that, starting from July 16, it began operating the second cohort of the "Gyeonggi Teacher Creator" program, which aims to recognize teachers' diverse learning experiences and support field-oriented, customized professional growth.

The Gyeonggi Teacher Creator program is a non-traditional training course in which teachers themselves plan and produce short-term learning materials (microlearning content), thereby creating and sharing digital resources tailored to the needs of schools.

This year, the provincial office selected a total of 50 participants: 2 from kindergartens, 36 from elementary schools, 11 from secondary schools, and 1 from special education.

The content produced will undergo content and technical review, and will be uploaded to the Southern Training Center of the provincial office and the Integrated Teacher Competency Support System (HiCoaching). These materials will be provided as learning resources that teachers in the province can use autonomously.

An official from the provincial office stated, "We plan to foster Gyeonggi Teacher Creators as a future-oriented teacher model, so that teachers can grow not only as consumers of learning materials but also as professional creators and training instructors." The official added, "We aim to drive changes in school education by producing and sharing practical learning materials that reflect on-site needs."

Meanwhile, in the first cohort last year, 40 teachers participated and produced over 80 educational resources.
