Kyungnam University Integrates Operation of "Goseong County Children and Social Welfare Foodservice Management Support Center"

Expansion from Existing Child-Focused Services to Social Welfare Facilities

The Goseong County Children's Foodservice Management Support Center, operated by the Kyungnam University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation under commission from Goseong County, has been integrated and is now operating as the Goseong County Children and Social Welfare Foodservice Management Support Center.

On July 14, after renewing its agreement with Goseong County, the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation expanded its support from group foodservice facilities for children to include social welfare facilities, such as senior welfare centers and facilities for people with disabilities. As a result, the foundation now operates comprehensive hygiene and nutrition management programs for these groups.


Going forward, the center will actively carry out activities aimed at improving the diets and addressing nutritional imbalances of vulnerable groups, such as seniors and people with disabilities, by focusing on small-scale social welfare foodservice facilities serving fewer than 50 people that do not have a registered dietitian.


Kim Jisang, head of the center, stated, "Recently, the importance of meal safety and systematic nutrition management for vulnerable groups has been increasingly emphasized. Based on the expertise we have accumulated so far, we will do our utmost to provide safe meals and a balanced nutritional environment for small-scale senior and disability facilities that do not have a dietitian."


Meanwhile, since its opening in August 2017, the Goseong County Children's Foodservice Management Support Center has carried out a variety of support programs to provide safe meals and balanced nutrition management for children's foodservice facilities serving fewer than 100 children and lacking a registered dietitian.
