Securing High-Quality Spatial Information
Continuous Expansion of Drone-Based Smart Administration
Gijang County in Busan has launched in-house training on orthophoto production using drones, aiming to strengthen its digital land administration capabilities.
On July 16, the county announced, "We conducted in-house training for county employees on drone flight practice and orthophoto production," adding, "This is drawing attention as a practical example of digital transformation, directly applying advanced spatial information technology to administrative work."

Typically, orthophoto shooting and production are highly specialized tasks that often require outsourcing to external professional organizations. However, in Gijang County, employees from the Land Information Division have obtained drone licenses (ultra-light aircraft operator certificates) and are independently capturing aerial footage using high-performance drones (Dji Matrice 300 RTK), then producing orthophotos in-house.
This training was also conducted without outsourcing, with employees directly participating as instructors and focusing on practical skills. The program covered the entire process, from drone flight and data capture to post-processing of images, ensuring hands-on transfer of technical know-how.
Gijang County is actively utilizing these orthophotos in various land administration fields, including cadastral survey result inspections and resolving cadastral inconsistencies.
County Governor Jeong Jongbok stated, "High-quality spatial information is the foundation of efficient administration," and added, "We will continue to strengthen employee capabilities and expand smart administration based on drones."
Gijang County plans to institutionalize in-house drone training at least once a year and further broaden the application of drone technology to administrative practices in the future.
