Choi Taewon, Chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), shared his vision to make the APEC CEO Summit a platform for global corporate cooperation and an opportunity to highlight the innovation capabilities and sustainability of Korean companies to the world.

At the opening ceremony of the KCCI Summer Forum, held at Lahan Select Hotel in Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk, Chairman Choi explained, "The summit is the largest business event in the Asia-Pacific region, bringing together the leaders of 21 member economies, which account for 60% of the world's GDP, along with over 1,700 global CEOs."

The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry serves as the official private sector representative of Korea for APEC and is the domestic host organization for the APEC CEO Summit. In preparation for the first APEC Summit to be held in Korea in 20 years, KCCI is gathering input from business leaders and proposing private-sector agendas to ensure the event's success.

This year's 48th KCCI Summer Forum was organized in Gyeongju, the host city, to conduct a preliminary review and raise public interest ahead of the APEC Summit, which is scheduled to take place in about 100 days in October.

Chairman Choi stated, "KCCI will work closely with the government to organize side events such as the Future Tech Forum and the K-Tech Showcase, and through these, we will introduce the future technologies and sustainability of our companies."

The forum, held under the theme "Wisdom of a Millennium, Path to the Future," runs for four days and three nights. Its programs are structured around the official APEC CEO Summit themes of Prosper, Innovate, and Connect.

More than 500 participants attended, including Chairman Choi Taewon, chairpersons of chambers of commerce nationwide, and representatives from large and small-to-medium-sized enterprises across the country. Prime Minister Kim Minseok delivered a keynote speech on the topic of "Korean Dream," marking his first meeting with the business community since taking office.

For the second consecutive year, the event will feature an "AI Talk Show." Chairman Choi Taewon will participate in person, with Kakao CEO Chung Suna serving as moderator, focusing on the current state of AI transformation in manufacturing processes and case studies of AI adoption by startups.

Additionally, Kim Jungsang, Duke University professor and co-founder of IonQ, the first publicly listed quantum computing company in the United States, will give a lecture on the future landscape of industries based on quantum technology and strategies for global technological supremacy.

Kim Jungkyun, CEO of Boryung, will share strategies for pioneering the new industry of space medicine, offering further insights into the future of industry. As part of lectures aimed at providing management insights, Kang Sungchun, professor at Seoul National University, will present a management philosophy centered on "people-oriented management," while Hong Daesoon, professor at Kwangwoon University, will introduce creative management transformation methods that combine artistic talent and advanced technology.

In addition, Yoo Hongjun, professor at Myongji University, will introduce the history and culture of Gyeongju, and Jung Heewon, an internal medicine specialist, will explain strategies for healthy aging through slow aging.

A visit to Hwangchon Village in Gyeongju, which has been transformed through the "Vacant House Regeneration Project," a part of KCCI's ERT (Entrepreneurial Round Table) activities, is also planned.
