Unification Vice Minister: "North Korea Should Give Advance Notice of Dam Releases to Prevent Border Flood Damage" Yonhap News

On this day, Vice Minister Kim made this remark while visiting and inspecting sites such as Gunnam Dam and Pilseung Bridge in the Imjin River basin in Yeoncheon County, Gyeonggi Province, together with officials from related organizations including the Ministry of Environment, Korea Water Resources Corporation, and the 25th Division. The purpose of this field visit was to check the on-site response posture in preparation for heavy rainfall during the summer and to strengthen cooperation with relevant agencies.

The Imjin River is a transboundary river shared by South and North Korea, and requires cooperative management between the two Koreas, including advance notice of dam water releases from North Korea and the exchange of meteorological and hydrological data.

The Ministry of Unification stated, "Going forward, the Ministry will continue to monitor the water level at Pilseung Bridge and maintain a 24-hour surveillance posture in close cooperation with related agencies, in order to protect the safety of the public."
