New AI, Consumer Protection, and Government Policy Support Divisions Established at Holding Company
Bank Restructures Marine Finance Organization
BNK Financial Group announced on July 16 that it has carried out an organizational restructuring and personnel appointments to focus its business capabilities on three key initiatives for the second half of the year: regional coexistence and financial consumer protection, artificial intelligence (AI) and digital finance, and strengthening soundness and improving the quality of assets.
The group plans to respond closely to the structural changes across the AI industry and to discover future growth engines through group-wide AI transformation (AX). The "Group Customer Value Innovation Division" has been renamed the "Group AI and Future Value Division," and the Digital Planning Department and AI Business Team under it have been integrated and expanded into the "AI Digital Strategy Department."
The group will also actively align with major government policies, such as balanced regional growth and strengthening the marine logistics industry. Within the Strategic Planning Department, a new "Marine City Strategy Team" has been established to support the completion of the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam (BULGYEONG) marine capital, and the existing Regional Specialized Business Team has been renamed the "Southeast Growth Support Team" to explore collaborative strategies based on analysis of industrial data in the southeastern region, which is a strength of regional finance. In addition, a new "Financial Consumer Protection Department" has been established under the Compliance Officer to enhance the consumer protection system across group companies and to expand the holding company's management role.
Subsidiaries are also undergoing organizational restructuring. Busan Bank has reorganized its "Investment Finance Group" into the "Marine/IB Group" to strengthen specialized financial support for key regional industries such as marine, shipbuilding, and logistics. A new "Marine Finance Department" has been established under this group to strengthen connections with the marine industry and to play a leading role in overcoming the crisis facing struggling regional industries.
The role of regional finance in revitalizing the local economy will also be further specified. As a follow-up to the "Regional Economy Hope Center" established in June, Busan Bank's head office branch will open a new financial consultation desk for small business owners and vulnerable groups, providing customized financial consulting. Kyongnam Bank also plans to expand practical financial support through centers established at its Masan head office and in Ulsan.
At the group representatives' meeting held on the same day, Chairman Bin Daein instructed that the newly established "Marine City Strategy Team" serve as the core in quickly forming a "Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries Relocation Response TFT" within the bank, in response to the ministry's relocation to Busan, and called for various efforts by regional finance to ensure a stable settlement.
A BNK Financial Group official stated, "Along with this organizational restructuring, we plan to soon establish the 'BNK Future Committee' (tentative name), which will consist of internal and external expert groups in various fields such as AI, consumer protection, regional coexistence, and future growth. Through this, BNK will actively identify and pursue practical agendas to play a leading role in the government's policy direction."
