Park Chandae: "Called Out People Power Party Names During First Impeachment Vote"
Jeong Chungrae and Park Chandae, who are running as candidates for the Democratic Party leadership, each appealed for party members' support by emphasizing their experiences contributing to the impeachment of former President Yoon Sukyeol.

In their opening statements during the first TV debate for the Democratic Party leadership candidates, held on the 16th on SBS News Briefing, Representative Jeong highlighted his role as the National Assembly's impeachment committee member, while Representative Park emphasized his contribution as floor leader during the impeachment of former President Yoon.
Representative Jeong said, "As the Chair of the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee, I served as the National Assembly's impeachment committee member at the Constitutional Court's impeachment trial," and added, "How much hardship and tears did the people of Korea endure just to hear that single sentence: 'President Yoon Sukyeol is hereby removed from office'?"
He continued, "After the verdict was announced, I expressed my gratitude in front of the Constitutional Court to the citizens who defeated the enemies of democracy with the power of democracy, and to the Constitutional Court justices who defeated the enemies of the Constitution with the power of the Constitution," adding, "It was a great achievement in which the people, with the power of democracy, eliminated the enemies of the Constitution who instigated the 12·3 Martial Law."
He also said, "If it were not for the Constitution, we would not have been able to prevent martial law," and added, "The Constitution, created through the June Democratic Uprising, might not have been possible without the 5·18 Gwangju Democratization Movement."
He went on to say, "I am especially grateful to the people of Honam who stood up for the Gwangju Democratization Movement," and expressed, "I am thankful to be at the forefront of history with the people who make history," emphasizing, "I am Jeong Chungrae, a strong candidate for party leader."
Representative Park said, "When we failed in the first impeachment of Yoon Sukyeol on December 7 during my tenure as floor leader, I called out the names of all 108 members of the People Power Party," adding, "All the citizens gathered in the square became one, and on the 14th of the same month, the impeachment motion passed."
Representative Park stated, "I want to be that kind of party leader," and added, "I will become a leader who, together with the people, will surely achieve the reforms demanded by the public." He continued, "I will be a leader who is reform-minded, rational, and competent, earning the support of the people," and added, "I will achieve unity through effective reforms."
He also said, "The success of the Lee Jaemyung administration's unity depends on this," and added, "We will become one team and, as a winning party leader, I will complete the reforms cleanly."
Representative Park claimed, "With the passage of the Commercial Act amendment, the economy is now stirring," and added, "Park Chandae is someone who can win without raising his voice, who can play as a team with proven individuals, and who can create a one-team dynamic within the party and in party-government relations."
He further asserted, "I dare to say that I am the real deal," and added, "For party leader, number 2, Park Chandae is the real one." He concluded, "I will work for the victory of the people and party members, and for the success of the Lee Jaemyung administration."
